Mactaggarts Place | 50m2 Heritage Refurbishment
Located on the top floor of one of Brisbane’s most iconic riverfront heritage properties, Echo Projects Co delivered an architectural refurbishment that pushed the limits of construction and design. Every element of this project added efficiency and an economy of style to create multifunction spaces maximising usable areas within the existing footprint.
The staircase to the upper-level is fabricated from custom laser cut stringers and risers with perforations allowing light to the workspace below. This pendulum-tested focal point was built for purpose invites connectivity and flow between the two levels of the property.
The marine-inspired upstairs loft features spaces for both work and rest with a functioning porthole window to catch the breeze off the river. The built-in workstation is crafted from dual-purpose joinery that includes a staircase that doubles as additional storage.
Throughout the refurbishment, the deep wood tones matched with seafoam grey and white accents create a sense of assured calm.
